Sneak Peak New Release Bedroom Games Charity Parkerson Interview

Author Interview Charity Parkerson
1. What was the driving force behind your current novel? For once, it was a purely erotic reason. Bedroom Games is the introduction to a new trilogy with Ellora’s Cave Publishing called the “Seven Levels” series. The main character, Pamela, is a highly sexual woman and she thrives on dangerous situations. Since I co-authored this one with horror author, Regina Puckett, and this is a horror erotica, I was in charge of the erotic while she was in charge of the horror.

 2. What personality traits do you most admire in other authors? Bravery. It takes a lot of courage to expose a piece of your soul to the world then watch silently as the world judges you loudly.

3. If you could offer a word of advice to an aspiring author who wants to venture down the road of self-publishing what would you tell them? Get an editor. Seriously. Don’t cheat yourself or your readers. Hire a professional. You cannot skimp on this. Indies are judged more harshly than Trad-pubbed authors. For that reason, when you put your work out there, you are representing us all.

4. Do you find inspiration in the works of other authors? If so, who and why… I’m inspired when I see someone succeed. Otherwise, if I’m working on a story, I try not to read anything, because I think it leaks into your subconscious.

 5. How would you describe the method behind your writing? I use the fly by the seat of my pants method. I’ve tried outlining, and I usually do know where my books are heading, but my characters tend to take on a life of their own and they stop listening to me.

 6. Are you an aficionado of any of the great classic authors? Which one do you feel has left their mark in the world of writing and changed the world the most? I’m not. I do love Edgar Allen Poe and William Shakespeare, but I’m not a huge classics fan. When I read anything about those authors, I’m thankful that writing has become an acceptable form of madness.

7. Is there any special preparations who take when you are about to sit down and write? I write full-time so I keep to a harsh writing schedule. Otherwise, I’ll end up on social media all day. If nothing else, the internet goes off.

 8. Which book you have written is your favorite and why? Is there a single character that stands out from the others? It’s hard to choose between my babies. “A Secure Heart” is probably my favorite, but “Paul” has a great deal of my life experiences in it, so it’s also very close to my heart. Lena Simmons from “The Assassin” is one of my favorite characters, and is the one everyone always asks about. My all-time favorite character has not released yet. He will be out next year in a new fight club series I’m working on for Ellora’s Cave. His name is Knox, and he is beautifully broken.

 9. Is there anything else you would like to share with your readers? Thank you all for supporting me, and continuing to read my books. I cannot say thank you enough to cover how much it means for me to be able to do what I love.

 Bedroom Games Blurb:
Pamela loves playing games, as do both her partners, just not together. There’s nothing like an exhilarating night of hide-and-seek or catch-me-if-you-can before a long evening of sex with one or the other. The problem? There’s a demon-possessed serial killer on the loose who loves playing sex games as much as Pamela does. When Pamela’s sexual escapades catch the serial killer’s attention, the games begin in earnest as he corners her in her own house. Using her anger—and a handy baseball bat—to her advantage, she takes care of the serial killer, but the demon is even more interested now. Inside Scoop: This scary tale contains brief references to incest, and graphic scenes of violence that may possess readers to keep a bat handy and all the lights on. A Romantica® erotic horror romance from Ellora’s Cave Excerpt: “Settle down. Here’s my truck. You can’t drive your car with that injured foot. I’ll drive you home. It’s my fault you’re hurt. I’m not going to leave you stranded out here. This could be a dangerous place for someone like you.” It was unsettling how he emphasized the “like you”, but then he smiled and it didn’t seem quite so bad as it had a moment earlier. Realizing he was probably right about her not being able to drive home, she allowed him to help her into the passenger side of his old Dodge pickup truck. After all, if he were going to kill her he could have done that when he had her down and out in the woods. That thought was somewhat comforting so she buckled her seatbelt and waited for him to get into the driver’s side of the truck. He stopped about halfway around the front of the truck and dug around in his pocket. He waited to jump into the truck until after he located what he was searching for. She expected him to have his keys in his hand but instead he had a long, sharp pocketknife. He quickly held the menacing knife up against her throat. “This is how this little game is going to play out.” With his free hand, he reached behind him and pulled out a pair of handcuffs from between the seat cushions. He grinned when he tossed them into her lap. “Put ’em on. You do what I tell you and we’ll both wake up happy tomorrow.” He leaned over and licked the side of her face. “Don’t piss me off. You wouldn’t like me pissed off.” When he was certain the handcuffs were securely on her, he started the truck. “I’m going to show you my house.” He grinned. “You’re going to like it there.”
